Events in January 2011 in Egypt

The events of January 2011 in Egypt are a series of demonstrations across the country. They are triggered in response to abuses by Egyptian police forces, the corruption, but also to the emergency rule permanent, and these expedited procedures. Unemployment, housing shortages, rising prices of basic necessities and lack of freedom of expression are also important causes of events. The main objective of the demonstrators is to obtain the resignation of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, in power since 14 October 1981. Continue reading
